The County of Monroe; the City of Rochester; and other units of local government , including adjacent
counties, town and village governments, school districts and special
districts.
HEREBY AGREE in the interest of continued designation as a
Clean Community via the United States Department of Energy Clean Cities
opportunity;
TO PARTICIPATE as individuals and in joint efforts to move
towards the following goals;
REDUCE
our local dependence on petroleum based and imported fuels used by public
and private vehicle fleets; as per the Energy Policy Act of 1992 and
subsequent revisions and;
WORK to
meet the vehicle emission standards of Title II of the Clean Air Act
Amendments of 1990 and subsequent revisions and:
PROVIDE
public education and opportunities to view and test Alternative Fuel
Vehicles (AFVs) encouraging the conversion, manufacture and maintenance of
AFVs, and
EXPLORE creative and cooperative efforts to build
public infrastructure including refueling stations, conversion and repair
facilities and keep statistical records and data to aid in research and
development of AFVs, and
SAVE COSTS associated with the maintenance and operation
of vehicle fleets for public and private corporations, and
FORMALIZE a
structure via the initial signers as Genesee Region Clean Communities;
facilitate procurement of any government or private grant dollars serving
the best interests of our region; assign advisory groups comprised of
additional signers and sub-committees of interested parties working
together on special projects as identified.
THIS NON-BINDING MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING IS NOT INTENDED
TO AND DOES NOT CREATE ANY CONTRACTUAL RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS WITH RESPECT
TO THE SIGNATORIES OR ANY OTHER PARTIES. THIS MEMO OF UNDERSTANDING MAY BE
AMENDED WITH THE CONSENT, AS TO ANY PARTY, OF THE SIGNING PARTIES AND MAY
BE TERMINATED BY THE MUTUAL CONSENT OF THE SIGNING PARTIES OR BY ANY PARTY
UPON 30 DAYS WRITTEN NOTICE TO THE OTHER PARTIES. THIS MEMO OF UNDERSTANDING SHALL
BECOME EFFECTIVE THE DAY THE LAST PARTY TO SIGN DOES SO. MEMBERSHIP IS OPEN TO ALL
INTERESTED PUBLIC AND PRIVATE ENTITIES.
